Homemade Blankets
Fleece blankets are a project that will keep everyone warm all winter long. They can be used as gifts, or as a family community service project. They can be made in an hour or two, and these double-layered blankets will stand up to many washings. They are suitable for camping, and pretty enough to pull out for sleep-over guests.
Instructions
-
-
1
Cut fleece into two even pieces along the width. Two yards of 50" fleece will produce two pieces 36" by 50", which makes a generously sized blanket.
-
2
Layer the two pieces of fleece, making sure that they are lined up on all sides.
-
-
3
Mark off four-inch long lines every two inches, using the ruler and marker, around all four sides of the top piece of fleece. Carefully cut along each of these lines through both layers of fleece making a fringe.
-
4
Tie the corresponding bottom and top pieces of fringe together using a square knot. Continue around the entire perimeter of the blanket.

Tips & Warnings
When tying your fringe, do not tie the knots too tight or you will pull the blanket out of shape. Make sure, as you work on the knots, that the blanket continues to lay flat on the floor.
