Convert WPS files to a format compatible with OpenOffice Writer.

OpenOffice is a free, open-source suite of productivity products originally created by Sun Microsystems and now developed by Oracle. Its word processing program, OpenOffice Writer, supports the import of a wide range of documents, including those associated with Microsoft Word, Corel WordPerfect and WordPad. Unfortunately, Writer does not offer compatibility with files saved in Microsoft Works' WPS format. Work around this limitation by converting WPS files to the DOC format of Microsoft Word before attempting to open them in Writer.

Instructions

  1. Convert your WPS File to DOC Format

    • 1

Open your web browser and navigate to the Zamzar website (see Resources).

    • 2

Click the "Choose File" button, locate your WPS file and select it by double-clicking its icon.

    • 3

Select "doc" from the adjacent drop-down menu.

    • 4

Enter your email address in the corresponding field.
