Homemade Wedding Gift Boxes

The wedding gift box should accent the beautiful present inside.

Creating homemade wedding gift boxes instead of buying them pre-decorated allows you to put your own creative spin on a gift and the presentation of it. It can also help you save money by doing the work yourself. Some craft pieces and a little time can turn plain boxes into adorable gift boxes.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose the gift box after you choose the gift so you know the appropriate size. Opt for square boxes because they fit many types of gifts and they're easy to decorate. Buy them in bulk and make sure to choose more than you actually need. If you make a mistake while decorating or some get ruined, you have backups if necessary.

Decorate with self-adhesive rhinestones. Even if you have no idea how to create a design with rhinestones, it doesn't have to be complicated to be beautiful. Use large tweezers to maneuver them. Make a vertical line down two opposite sides of the box from where the edge of the lid ends to the bottom of the box. On the top, use the rhinestones to create the first letter each of the couple's names with a plus sign in between, or write out the wedding date.

Fill the inside. The gift will need a small cushion so it doesn't bounce around in the box. Use a bunched up piece of satin fabric or, for a cheaper option, use a spread out cotton ball with a little sprinkle of silver glitter. Leave an indentation in the center for the gift.

Tie a ribbon around the opposite sides where you placed the rhinestones. Tie it in a bow at the top so when the guest unties it she will see the top of the box you decorated. Consider using a silver ribbon to complement the rhinestones.

Double-check all the boxes. Make sure the rhinestones are properly attached and that there are none missing. Shake the boxes a little to check that the gift inside won't bounce around.
