How to Search For a Person With Email

Email directories make it simple to locate people.

The ability to locate a person's email address has become just as important as the ability to find a phone number or address. If you've lost contact with an important business client or an old friend, there are several different websites available to help you search for a relevant email address. Much like an address search, you only need to enter in a few pieces of personal information to bring up a list of potential matches.

Instructions

1. Navigate your web browser to an email search website, such as "Yahoo! Search," "Email Finder" or "IAF.net." Type the person's first name or first initial in the corresponding text box.

2. Tap "Tab" and type the person's last name or last initial in the appropriate text box. Type the city location in the "City" text box if the email search website uses a city search feature.

3. Click the "State" drop down box if the website includes a state search feature. Choose the state where the person is located.

4. Click the "Search" button. Scroll through the list of search results and click the name for the correct entry. Follow the on-screen instructions to view the person's email address.

Tips & Warnings

• Most email search websites also allow you to search for a person by an existing email address. Type the person's email address in the corresponding field to bring up a list of names associated with the address.

• A last name or last initial is the only required information to perform an email address search. Providing more information will narrow down your search results and provide you with more relevant results.

• Yahoo! Search also provides a list of websites and social networking profiles associated with the name. The entries listed may include the person's email address as well.

• Most email address search websites, including "Email Finder" and "IAF.net," require you to sign up for a service to view the full email address. Many websites offer a 7 day free trial, but they will continue to charge your credit card if you don't cancel your subscription before the trail period ends.
