How to Obtain a Visa for Jordan thumbnail
Jordan is one of the best health care providers in the world.

Rated fifth in the world for medical tourism, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is a popular destination for foreign nationals seeking various forms of health care. If you are considering visiting the country, you must apply for a visa through the Embassy of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Washington, D.C. Apply for your visa as early as possible to avoid any delays in your travel plans.

Instructions

    • 1

Download the appropriate Visa Application form from the homepage of the Embassy of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Washington, D.C (see Resources for a link). Unless you are a U.S. citizen, or a national from a country in Western Europe, download Form B; citizens from the United States and Western Europe must download Form A.

    • 2

Have a passport-size photograph taken. Ensure that the dimensions of the photo match the space marked on the visa application.

    • 3

Print and complete the application, answering every question as thoroughly as possible. Sign and date the application. Affix your photo in the marked space on the completed application form.

    • 4

Pay the processing fee for your visa by making a money order payable to "The Jordanian Embassy." As of May 2010, the processing fee was $16.50 for a single-entry visa valid for three months, and $31.50 for a multiple-entry visa valid for three months.

Gather supporting documents for your application, which includes a letter from your employer providing details about your trip, if you are applying for a Business Visa; a photocopy of your Permanent Resident Card, if you are a Green Card holder; and photocopies of the first four pages of your valid passport. Your passport must have a minimum validity of six months with blank pages where the Jordanian Embassy will affix the approved visa.

Mail your completed application, supporting documents as well as your valid passport via certified mail to:
Embassy of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
      Consular Office
      3504 International Drive, N.W.
      Washington, D.C. 20008

A self-addressed UPS or USPS Express Mail envelope must accompany your application; the Jordanian Embassy does not accept self-addressed envelopes from FedEx.

If you are a U.S. citizen, expect to have the Jordanian Embassy process your visa within five business days. If you are from another country, it may take longer before your visa is processed.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are a citizen from the United States, Mexico, South America or a country in Western Europe, you may also get a Jordanian visa upon arrival at the airport in Amman-Jordan.
