How to Make a Crossbow Pistol

A crossbow is not as accurate as a gun since there is no trigger to fire the projectile. You can make a crossbow pistol from a few items commonly found around the house. Your crossbow pistol will use a trigger just like a gun to fire a projectile upon command. Get adult help to make your crossbow pistol if you are underage.

Instructions

    • 1

Put a sheet of newspaper on a table. Put the wood rectangle block on the newspaper with the long end facing you.

    • 2

Measure two inches from the left end of the wood rectangle block. Make a dot at the one-inch mark with the black marker.

    • 3

Cut a two-inch vertical slit through the wood rectangle block, starting at the dot, with the utility knife.

    • 4

Measure two inches in from the top edge at the other end of the wood rectangle block. Screw a wood screw halfway into the top edge of the wood rectangle block at the two-inch mark with the Phillips screwdriver.

    • 5

Put the ruler on the newspaper with the long end facing you. Screw a wood screw halfway into the ruler with the Phillips screwdriver at the two-inch mark.

    • 6

Run the end of the ruler farthest from the wood screw through the slit in the wood rectangle block. Screw a wood screw halfway into the ruler with the Phillips screwdriver at the 11-inch mark. Put a piece of duct tape on each side of the slit to hold the ruler to the wood rectangle block.

    • 7

Loop a rubber band over each wood screw. Screw the wood screws all the way into the ruler with the Phillips screwdriver.

    • 8

Stretch the ends of both rubber bands over the wood screw on the top edge of the wood rectangle block.

    • 9

Cut a slit down the length of a pencil with the utility knife. Enlarge the slit with the blade of the utility knife until it is wider than the edge of the wood rectangle block.

    • 10

Sharpen the point of the pencil with the utility knife. Place the slit of the pencil over the top edge of the wood rectangle block with the point facing toward the ruler.

    • 11

Move the pencil back up against the wood screw on the top edge of the wood rectangle block. Take the crossbow pistol you have made out to your backyard.

    • 12

Aim the point of the pencil that is now your crossbow bolt at a tree or rock. Release the rubber bands from over the wood screw to propel the crossbow bolt at the tree or rock from your crossbow pistol.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use bonding glue instead of duct tape to hold the ruler to the wood rectangle block.

  • Do not aim a weapon of any kind at a person or pet.
