How to Tweak a Computer for Use With MagicJack

MagicJack is a VOIP (voice over IP) protocol that enables you to make calls from your computer over the Internet. Configuring your computer to take advantage of MagicJack means utilizing the full available amount of your Internet bandwidth to smooth your calls and prevent lag.

Instructions

1. Click "Start" and type "rededit" in "Search."

2. Press "Enter" to display the registry.

3. Open the following folders: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE," "SOFTWARE," "Policies," "Microsoft," "Windows."

4. Right click "Windows" and select "New Key." Name this "Psched."

5. Right click "Psched" and select "New DWORD." Name this "Nonbesteffortlimit" and enter a value of "0." This will free up bandwidth, keeping your MagicJack calls free of interference.
