Troubleshooting a Blinking Red Light on a Philips 62PL977437

Save

The Philips model 62PL977437 is a rear projection television set that has a 62-inch screen and is only 18 inches thick. Philips uses a proprietary technology, which employs liquid crystal on silicon to make this particular television significantly lighter than previous rear projection CRT televisions. Additionally, this TV is completely high-definition ready, which means that it can play DVDs and high-definition broadcasts with clarity. If your set has a blinking red light, you can usually fix it by yourself.

  • Look at the front of your Philips model 62PL977437 television set and see if the red light is blinking. If it is, your television has entered protection mode and needs to be reset. The red light often blinks when the TV won't turn on or continually shuts off unexpectedly.

  • Find the power cable attached to the back of the TV that runs to the electrical outlet on the wall. Using your hand, unplug the television set.

  • Wait for 60 seconds. This usually resets the television and removes the protection mode. Be sure to wait the full 60 seconds as any less time will fail to correct this issue.

  • Plug the electric cord from the television back into the outlet, and then turn on the TV by pressing in the power button with your finger. The red light on the front of the set should not be blinking anymore. If this doesn't work, repeat Steps 2 through 4 at least three more times. If the red light is still blinking, go to the next step.

  • Call the Philips Customer Care Center at 800-531-0039.
