The term "para-mutuel" is French for " among ourselves." It refers to the indifference an agent has regarding the winner of a horse race; his job is simply to hold the wagers and pay them out after the event is over. Para-mutuel Florida Gaming Licenses fall into four distinct categories: Racing, Cardroom, Slots and Combos. A Combo License applies to those individuals who are involved with both track racing and the cardroom. The Florida Department of Business And Professional Regulation (FDBPR) accepts applications for each variation of the license. Financial information, identification and other requirements often accompany the completion of each application.

Read over the Application Requirements, paying close attention to fees and stipulations.
Fill out your application using one of the two links at the bottom of the screen. Choose either the online application or print one and fill it out by hand. Not all applications have an online form available. Either submit your online application, or use the address listed in the Application Requirements to send in a paper form by mail.

Certain corrections officers and law enforcement individuals working in security may not require an appropriate license for their job type.
Gaming licenses in Florida are valid until June 30th of the third year, beginning each May 1st.
Be prepared to pay a fee for each three-year licensing period. You may also need to provide a set of fingerprints.
