Voting is an integral part of any democracy.

Before you can vote in any local, state or federal election, you must be properly registered with the state in which you live. In order to register to vote in the state of Pennsylvania, you must first meet a few basic requirements. You must be a citizen of the United States and resident of Pennsylvania for at least 30 days prior to the next primary or general election. Also, you must be at least 18 years of age. If you meet these requirements, registering to vote is a simple task.

      Go to "votespa.com" and look on the left side of the page. Select "Register to Vote" from the menu. This will take you to the "Register to Vote" page.

      Click on the link marked as "Voter Registration Mail Application Form." You will be prompted to download the application. Permit the download in order to continue.

      Print the registration application form after you've downloaded it.

      Fill out boxes 1 through 13 on the registration application form using a pen with either blue or black ink. Ensure that you read every question and answer correctly. After you're positive you've filled out the information correctly, sign and date the form in the space provided.

      Look directly below the form for the address of your county's Voter Registration Office. Once you've found the address for your county's registration office, write it in the space provided. Also include your return address. Remember to place first class postage on the form as well.

      Fold the form and drop it in the mail. In a few weeks you should receive your voter ID card in the mail.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can register to vote at PennDOT when you renew or obtain your photo driver's license. You can also obtain a voter registration form from an assortment of government offices, such as any public assistance office, area agencies on aging and armed forces recruitment centers.
