How to Get a Master in Teaching
Getting a master in teaching (MiT) will prepare you to become a teacher. You will earn your master's degree while also becoming certified as a teacher. Courses offered in a MiT program will focus on building the skills and the foundations needed to be able to teach. Depending on the graduate school, you may have to do student teaching. A MiT degree is a choice for those who are looking for a career change.

Pick an accredited graduate school that offers a master in teaching program. Pick a program that is convenient for you to attend classes. Online classes are an option for those who cannot physically make it to class. Select what grade levels you would like to teach and the subject or subjects you would like to teach. You can pick from elementary school, middle school and high school. Depending on the graduate school, the subjects you will be qualified to teach will vary.

Complete the curriculum of the graduate school you selected. Your curriculum will be based on the grade levels you decided you would want to teach and the subject you picked. Once accepted into the program, make an appointment with a counselor to discuss what classes you need to take and when you will be able to take them. Depending if you will be going to school full time or part time, it can take from one year to two years to complete the curriculum.
