DIY Ear Cleaning
Many people think earwax should be cleaned from the ears daily. What most people are unaware of is that ear wax is beneficial. It keeps dirt and debris from getting into the inner ear. Excessive wax buildup, however, is not beneficial and can cause problems such as hearing difficulties and pain in the ears. You can clean earwax buildup at home; however, if the buildup is too great, you may need to go to the doctor for a professional ear cleaning. Does this Spark an idea?

Lean your head to the side so your ear is facing up towards the ceiling. Rest your head on a pillow if that is more comfortable.

Fill an ear syringe with 3 percent hydrogen peroxide. Slowly drip three drops of the peroxide into the ear canal.

Keep your head tilted and let the peroxide sit in your ear for about five minutes, or until the peroxide stops bubbling. Place a soft cloth over your ear and tilt your head to the other side for a few minutes to let the peroxide drain out.

Moisten a soft rag with warm water. Wring out the cloth well so it is slightly damp and not dripping wet.

Wipe all around the inner ear with the damp rag. Make sure to wipe the lobe, behind the ear and all around the edges of the ear.

Moisten a cotton swab with warm water. Use the swab to clean into the small spaces on the outer ear. Do not clean inside of the ear canal with the cotton swab.

Repeat this entire process on the other ear.

Tips & Warnings
If you have any irregularities or problems with your ears, do not try to clean them yourself.
If the wax buildup is hard or painful during cleaning, get your ears cleaned by a medical professional.
