2. Check for good testimonials, but be wary of overly dramatic or over-the-top reviews. Rarely do real reviewers write many paragraphs of rave reviews. In addition, look out for reviews with images, full names, or addresses. Most reviewers won't give out such personal information to a business, especially if it could be published in public. If you see these things, it's likely that the reviews are fake.

3. Find contact information for the author or publisher and contact them before you buy anything. At the very least, find an email address. If there is no contact information, then there is a good chance the author is not legitimate. Send an email asking a few simple questions about slots, even if you already know the answers. Look for a timely and knowledgeable response.

4. Do an Internet search on the author or title of the material. Specifically look for reviews, scam alerts or any other red flags.

5. Check for a privacy notice on the author or publisher's website. Any legitimate information seller will have taken the time to create a privacy policy and place it online. Additionally, a copyright notice will tell you that the author takes his material seriously.
