How to Airbrush Names
Airbrushing is an art technique that lays paint on a surface using air pressure. The airbrush gun is hooked up to the paint tube by a hose. The artist pushes a trigger at the top of the brush to start the air flow and pulls it back to release paint onto the surface. You can airbrush painting canvases, t-shirts and bags. Writing names with an airbrush gun integrates design with functionality and is relatively simple to do.

1
Choose a canvas to write your name on. (A canvas is anything you want it to be just as long as you can paint on it. You may want to airbrush a t-shirt, a bag, or a poster.)
-
2
Secure your canvas to a flat surface so it doesn't move during the painting process. Taping it down is an easy way to keep it in place.

3
Pick out an airbrush paint appropriate for the canvas you chose. Art-supply stores label their paints clearly. If you have trouble deciding which paint is right for your project, ask a sales person for his or her advice.
-
4
Attach the paint to the hose of the airbrush gun.
-
5
Hold the spray nozzle toward the canvas. The nozzle is held parallel to the ground. Push the trigger down to make sure air is running through.
-
6
Depress the trigger and pull it backward to release paint onto the canvas. Trace an outline of each letter in your name. Remember, the closer you are to the canvas, the finer the line of paint. The farther back you pull the trigger, the thicker the paint.
-
7
Pull the airbrush gun farther away from the canvas. Pull the trigger back as far as it goes and point it at each letter. Fill the inside of each letter. Change colors if you want to add another dimension to your design.
