How to Build an Esper Deck
Magic: The Gathering's Esper plane contains powerful magical creatures and artifacts for the popular card game. This land houses a wide variety of artifact creatures, tinkers and mechanical creations designed to protect the fictional realm against all intruders. Esper decks focus on the mystical spells and seemingly endless choice of artifacts to defeat foes. Players construct decks from cards purchased in randomized booster packs at department or game stores or trade specific cards with other players. A player focused on the creation of an Esper deck must weave the elements of blue magic, the magic of water, with Esper's allied colors of black and white.

1
Choose at least 20 of Esper's artifact creatures to form the base of your deck. Etherium Sculptor makes an excellent choice due to its ability to lower all artifact costs by one colorless mana. The Sharding Sphinx and Sanctum Gargoyle creatures can control the air against foes and fly over enemy defenses. Esper Battlemage brings the power of a healer and an assassin to your aid through the use of white and black magics.

2
Pick at least ten artifacts to support your creatures and reinforce your life totals. The Courier's and Executioner's Capsules let you quickly refill your hand and deal with opposing threats. Obelisk of Esper can produce any of Esper's mana colors. The Onyx Goblet and Marble Chalice use Esper's allied colors to either drain an opponent's life or restore your own.

Select ten or more spells that allow you to quickly replenish your hand. Tidings grants you four cards immediately upon casting. Insight and Tome Scour also help to quickly move through your library in search of your most powerful cards. Players in Extended or Legacy formats can use Demonic Tutor and other powerful card drawing spells.

4
Add 10 Island, five Swamp and five Plains cards to form your basic land mana generation. These lands will provide your deck with the mana it requires to cast all of your other spells. The use of the Obelisk of Esper and other mana generating artifacts allow you to use fewer lands than many similar decks.
