Homemade Bug Spray
Nobody wants to go outside and be pestered and bitten by bugs, but some people are wary of using bug sprays because of all the chemicals they contain. Fortunately, you can make your own homemade bug spray as a safe alternative to the chemical offerings. Best of all, many homemade bug sprays work just as well, if not better, than their chemical counterparts. With a few all natural ingredients, you can whip up a batch of natural bug spray in a matter of minutes. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Rubbing alcohol or witch hazel
- Clove oil
- Citronella oil
- Tea tree oil
- Lemon grass oil
- Spray bottle

Measure 1 cup of rubbing alcohol or witch hazel. Measure 1 cup of water. Blend together in a clean spray bottle.

Dilute a drop of each essential oil with water and test it on an inconspicuous area of your skin. If redness, rash, burning or inflammation occur with any of the essential oils, do not use them.

Add in 20 drops of citronella oil. Citronella oil is also called rose geranium. Also add 20 drops of lemon grass oil.

Add in 10 drops each of tea tree oil and clove oil. Then, put the lid back on the spray bottle and shake it well so all the ingredients blend together. Shake the bottle again before each use because the components of your homemade bug spray will separate between uses.

Tips & Warnings
Do not spray homemade bug spray near your face, mouth or eyes.
