How to Create a Shadow Box for a Wedding
Is there any day in life that demands to be remembered as much as a wedding day? Months and months of planning and fretting over seemingly tiny details all finally come together and result in a joyous event. Unfortunately, many brides will tell you that they scarcely remember the very day that they have spent so much time and energy planning. Putting together a shadow box full of reminders of the big day is a sweet way to display a reminder of the love that was shared that day.

Creating a Shadow Box
-
1
Mementos don't necessarily have to be pretty, just meaningful to you. Collect all of the items that you would ideally like to put in your shadow box. These may include scraps of fabric from the bridesmaids' dresses, the bride's garter, a copy of the wedding invitation, the groom's boutonniere and more.
-
2
Arrange the items in a configuration that is pleasing to you, and measure how long, wide and tall the items are. Use these measurements as a guide when purchasing a shadow box in which to display them.

Many homegoods stores also carry shadow boxes. Purchase a shadow box from your local craft store or frame shop.
-
4
The paper you choose should complement the mementos and your home. Open the shadow box and line the back wall of it with decorative paper. Scrapbooking paper and wrapping paper lend themselves very well to this task.
-
5
Avoid using typical thumbtacks, as they detract from the effect. Carefully pin each of the items into place on the back wall of the shadow box, ensuring that all items are adequately visible. Use straight pins or pushpins with small heads to limit visibility.
-
6
Shadow boxes can be heavy, so use appropriate hangers to support the weight. Slide the back onto the shadow box and hang securely on the wall.

Tips & Warnings
Some items may be too big for a shadow box; consider displaying those separately.
