Instructions

    • 1

Prepare the planting area for the bulbs. Cultivate the soil slightly deeper than the depth you will plant the bulbs using the garden spade. Add 2 to 3 inches of compost to the top of the soil and cultivate the soil to mix in the compost. Rake the soil smooth to finish the soil preparation.

    • 2

Insert the planting tool into the soil in a spot you want to plant a bulb and push it down to the depth you must plant the bulb. Find depth markings on the outside of the tool. Consult specific planting instructions for the bulbs or plant each bulb approximately twice as deep as the height of the bulb.

    • 3

Remove the tool with the soil with it, and set it aside momentarily. Drop the bulb into the hole with the pointed end of the bulb facing up.

    • 4

Replace the soil you removed with the planting tool by holding the tool above the hole and shaking it or tapping it to release the soil. Pat the soil firmly with your hands to finish planting the bulb.
