How to Show or Hide the Mac's Control Strip

The Control Strip is a generally useful band of computer controls, but sometimes it gets in the way. Here's how to make it less conspicuous.

Showing the Control Strip

  Click on the tab showing at the lower left or right edge of your screen to open the Control Strip.

  If you don't see a tab, click on the Apple menu and select Control Panels.

  Double-click on the Control Strip control panel.

  Click Show Control Strip.
Hiding the Control Strip

  To close the Control Strip, but leave a tiny stub of it available on your screen, click the tab at the right end of the strip.

  To close the Control Strip completely, open the Apple menu and choose Control Panels.

  Double-click the Control Strip control panel.

  Click Hide Control Strip.
