Instructions

  1. Create a system restore point

      Close any open programs and files.

      Click "Start," "Control Panel," if using Windows XP.

      If using Windows Vista or 7, click "Start." Right-click on "Computer," Select "Properties."

      Click on "Performance and Maintenance," if using Windows XP (in Category View).

      If using Windows Vista or 7, click on "System Protection" in the left pane of the "System" dialog box.

      Click on "System Restore" in the left pane of the dialog box. Click on the circle next to "Create a restore point," if using Windows XP.

      If using Windows Vista or 7, click the "Create" button at the bottom of the dialog box.

      Click "Next." Enter a name for the restore point in the box under the heading "Restore point description," if using Windows XP.

      If using Windows Vista or 7, enter a name for the restore point in the box under the heading "Create a restore point."

      Click the "Create" button to start the restore point creation process (applies to Windows XP, Vista and 7 systems).

      Open your computer's Internet browser.

      Click on the "DirectX 9.0c (Feb 10)" link in the Resources section of this article.

      Click on the "Download Latest Version" link on the right side of the webpage.
      Click on "Save As," "Save All" or "Save" when the "directx_feb2010_redist.exe" dialog box opens.

      Navigate to the directory containing the downloaded file. Double click on the "directx_feb2010_redist.exe" file name.

      Click the "Browse" button to select a directory to temporary store the application's installation programs. Note, you will delete this directory later. Select a directory that is not used often and doesn't contain other files. Click "OK."

      Click on "DXSETUP" to start the installation process. Follow the onscreen prompts to complete the installation.

      Click "Start," "Turn Off Computer," "Restart" to restart your computer once the installation process is complete.

      Navigate and open the directory used in step 5. Click "Edit," "Select All." Press the "Delete" key on your computer's keyboard. Click "Yes" when prompted to move the files to the Recycle Bin.

      Empty your computer's Recycle Bin.

      Open your computer's Internet browser.

      Click on the "DirectX 9.0c - Brothersoft" link in Resources.

      Scroll down the page and click on the "Click to download" link. Click on "Save As," "Save All" or "Save" when the "directx_9c_Dec04sdk.exe" dialog box opens.

      Navigate to the directory containing the downloaded file. Double click on the file's name to install the program. Complete steps 5 through 7 in the " Downloading - DirectX 9.0c -File Hippo" section.
