Instructions

    • 1

Lay four sheets of tissue paper, stacked on top of one another, flat on a hard surface, and trace one large circle onto the paper. Use one color or choose several to design a multi-colored flower.

    • 2

Choose four additional sheets of tissue paper and lay them on top of each other on your work surface. Trace a small circle onto the paper.

    • 3

Cut out the large and small circles. Lay the stack of large circles flat and place the smaller circles on top in the center.

    • 4

Poke two small holes in the center of the tissue paper stack, approximately 1/8 inch apart. Thread one end of a green-colored pipe cleaner through one hole and back down through the other hole. Twist the two ends of the pipe cleaner together to create a stem.

    • 5

Crinkle the tissue paper in toward the center, starting with the top layer and working down to the bottom layer of paper. Crush, crinkle and crumple the paper to give the flower the texture of a carnation.

    • 6

Fold a sheet of green construction paper in half and draw a leaf onto the paper, near the folded edge. Cut the leaf out of the paper, leaving the folded side intact, to create a set of two leaves when unfolded.

    • 7

Place a small amount of liquid glue on the center of the set of leaves and press it to the underside of the tissue paper carnation. Allow the glue to dry as directed on the packaging.
