Select an uncomplicated picture. The transference of the image onto the tombstone is rendered onto a porcelain tablet on which the pigments from the photo will be baked at a high degree temperature. So, the less intricate your photo, the clearer and more pristine the image will be.

    • 2

Find a facility, such as a mortuary, that can provide this service. Unless you have the equipment for transferring an image onto a tombstone, the easiest--and least emotional--way to get the job done is to enlist the help of a professional. These services can be found at major cemeteries or even online through websites such as artisanmemorials.com and pyramidmemorials.com.

    • 3

Predetermine the color scheme and size of the headstone. Using the guidelines from the facility transferring the image, ensure that the photo you have selected is keeping with the length and width limitations of the headstone and that the photo does not clash with the style of the headstone (i.e. granite, marble or concrete).

Tips & Warnings

  • Including an epitaph or quote under the picture accentuates the personality of the deceased.
