Instructions
-
-
1
Select a theme for the glow-in-the-dark invitations. For example, choose glow-in-the-dark planets and stars for birthday invitations or glow-in-the-dark monsters for Halloween.
-
2
Set out the supplies for the invitations.
-
-
3
Fold a piece of paper in half so that the top edge is even with the bottom edge. Fold the piece of paper in half again, this time so that the side edge meets the other side edge. This forms a practice card.
-
4
Look over the stickers and choose how you want to use them. For example, design an invitation with five planets at different levels on the front of the invitation with seven stars above the planets.
-
5
Place a ruler on inside page of the glow-in-the-dark invitation and draw light pencil lines for the invitation text. For example, make four lines for the sample text in Step 6.
-
6
Write the invitation's text below the glow-in-the-dark decorations in pencil:
You're invited to David Taylor's 8th Birthday Party
At David's house: 2111 Palm Way at Milton Ave.
Saturday, October 5th at 2 PM
RSVP: 555-1234 -

Make a sample invitation on card stock if you'll have others helping you. Apply the stickers, make the lines for the text and then write the text in glow-in-the-dark ink. Stand the sample invitation in the middle of the table so others have a model to follow.
-
8
Create a lot of glow-in-the-dark invitations by assembling them one step at a time. For example, put the larger stickers on all of them first, next add the smaller stickers, then draw the lines and write the text. Or, give each helper a task and you can pass the invitations along assembly-line style. Get creative with descriptive text about the event, if desired. BellaOnline.org recommends a Star Wars theme birthday invitation with a brief story about the birthday boy. The Disney Family Fun website suggests making wizard theme invitations. Include kids by giving them glow-in-the-dark sticker decorating steps to do.
-
9
Address the invitations on the matching envelopes in silver or gold ink---this shows up well on black.
-
10
Add a glow-in-the-dark sticker and glow-in-the-dark writing to the envelopes, if desired.
-
11
Put the glow-in-the-dark invitations under a bright light for 10 minutes. Turn off the lights and view the glow-in-the-dark effect.
