How to Build a Chaos Deck

Yu-Gi-Oh! introduced a new mechanic to the game with the release of the Invasion of Chaos expansion set. Chaos spells and monsters remove opposing threats from the game entirely, without relying on combat or damage to defeat their foes. Many creatures gain power based on the number of foes removed from the game this way. Chaos traps and spells often count the number of removed cards before activating their full effect. This effect causes chaos against decks unprepared for constant removal of their assets.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose at least nine chaos champion cards. These represent the most powerful chaos monsters in the game. Chaos Sorceror, Black Luster Soldier -- Envoy of the Beginning and Chaos Emperor Dragon -- Envoy of the End commonly appear as champion cards. Any high-level creature that removes opposing cards from the game may be used.

    • 2

Select 21 or more low level dark and light aspected monsters. Most chaos champions require the sacrifice of one dark and one light creature in order to summon. Common choices include Chaos-End Master, Phantom of Chaos and Sphere of Chaos. Each of these cards relies on the remove-from-game mechanic; choices also include any fourth level or lower monster with removal powers.

    • 3

Add ten or more spell and trap cards with removal properties. Primal Seed allows you to return any cards that you have removed from the game back to your hand. Chaos End counts the number of cards you have removed from play and unleashes a devastating assault, while Chaos Trap Hole prevents opposing summons and removes the creature from play.

Tips & Warnings

  • Up to three of any single card can be used in a tournament legal Yu-Gi-Oh! deck.
