How to Make Your Own Countdown Banner
Customized countdown banners are often seen on blogs, personal websites and social-networking profiles, counting down to a variety of special events. Common themes include the countdown to a wedding, a vacation, a birth or a holiday. Countdown banners can be created with HTML or Flash, but you don't need to be a programmer to make your own.

Create a simple countdown ticker at the Lilypie website (see Resources). Lilypie specializes in pregnancy, parenting and baby-themed banners that update each day to display how close you are to your goal.

Design a custom Flash countdown banner using the tools on Critical Layouts (see Resources). Select a background from the choices offered and add your own text. A running clock counts down the years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes and seconds until your event.
