Priceline's "Name Your Own Price" offers more control over your vacation's budget.

Many people consider Priceline's Name Your Own Price option as the perfect way to save money on a vacation and get more "bang for your buck." Name Your Own Price allows you to choose the area you'd like a hotel, the number of stars you'd like, and bid an amount per night you're willing to pay. Priceline does not inform you of the hotel you've booked until after your bid has been accepted and your credit card charged. If your first bid isn't accepted, there are several ways to change your bid.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a different or additional area you're willing to book a hotel in. For example, if your original bid only included the city's downtown area, try choosing the airport area as well.

    • 2

Choose a lower star rating. This will allow you to rebid immediately.

    • 3

Bid under a different name. Remember that the person must be able to check into the hotel. For instance, if your bid fails under your own name, you can try bidding under your husband's.

    • 4

Change your dates. Changing either the check-in or check-out date will allow you to rebid immediately.

    • 5

Wait 24 hours if you don't want to change anything. You will then be able to place an identical bid.
