Resurrect your old PSX games and play them on your PSP.

Custom software can be installed onto the Sony PSP portable video game device that will unlock many new features. One of the best features is playing your Playstation1 (PSX) game disks. So if you have custom firmware installed on your PSP and have a few old PSX disks lying around, it's time to put them to work again.

Instructions

  1. Create PSX ISO File

    • 1

Download Imgburn, a free program that will create an ISO file of the PSX disk. Double-click the downloaded file to install the program.

    • 2

Insert your PSX disk into the computer optical drive. Open Imgburn and click "Create image file from disk." Click the source drop-down menu and click the disk drive that your PSX disk is in.

    • 3

Click the destination icon and select a place to save the ISO file. Click the green arrow to create the ISO file from the PSX disk.

    Create Eboot File

    • 4

Download PSX2PSP, a free program that converts your PSX ISO files into playable eboot files. Double-click the file after it downloads to install it on your computer.

    • 5

Open PSX2PSP and click the "ISO/PBP" button to open a new window. Click your ISO file that you created in the first section. Click "Output PBP Folder" and select a place to save the eboot file. The other boxes will fill in automatically.

    • 6

Click the "Convert" button and your PSP eboot file will be created. When the conversion is completed, locate the new folder that was created by PSX2PSP. Your eboot will be inside.

    • 7

Right-click the folder that the eboot file is in and click "Copy." Connect your PSP to your computer with the USB cable and select "USB Connection" from the PSP menu. A window will appear on your computer, giving you access to your PSP memory stick.

    • 8

Open the "PSP" folder on the PSP memory stick and right-click the "GAME" folder. Click "Paste" to transfer the PSX eboot folder to the PSP memory stick. Press the "O" button to disconnect the PSP safely from the computer. Browse through the PSP menu and you will see your new game installed. Select it to play.
