      Visit the Tagalog site at Northern Illinois University (see References), which is one of the best nonprofit Tagalog learning sites available. Click on the link "For Tagalog learners."

      Read the instructions labelled "Beginning Tagalog Level." The links on the left ribbon are organized from the top down; begin by clicking on the top link ("Recommended Essay") and working your way down.

      Visit one of the several commercial Tagalog language sites such as Learning Tagalog Online (see References). Many of them offer free initial classes, similar to the Northeastern Illinois University site, so you can get a feel for the style of information delivery. Be sure to try out their free classes before you make a decision on which program to subscribe to.
