If your dog has red, itchy skin, it may be challenging to find an appropriate shampoo to keep irritation and inflammation down. Dogs with certain skin problems often require regular bathing to remove buildup and other irritants. Avoid the task of shopping for the perfect dog shampoo by mixing up a batch of your own. Keep your dog’s skin healthy with a homemade recipe.

Things You'll Need

  • Large bottle with cap
  • 1 quart water
  • 1/3 cup glycerin
  • 1 cup dish soap
  • 1 cup white distilled vinegar
  • 2 tsp. pure tea tree oil

Fill the bottle with 1 quart of water. Add 1/3 cup of glycerin, which is found in health food stores or drug stores.

Pour in 1 cup of regular dish soap, followed by 1 cup of white distilled vinegar.

Add 2 tsp. of pure tea tree oil to the mixture.

Place the cap onto the bottle and shake it vigorously to mix the ingredients together. Shake until the ingredients are fully mixed. Shake again before use.
