How to Start a Coal Fire
Whether you're camping or you're wanting to grill your next meal the old-fashioned way, starting a coal fire allows you to do so. Starting a coal fire at home doesn't require very much time and is an easy way to prepare meats, fish and a variety of other recipes whether you're using a fire pit or a stand-up charcoal grill.
Instructions
-
-
1
A standard charcoal grill Add about three pounds of black charcoal to the reservoir of the charcoal grill.
-
2
Squirt a liberal amount of lighter fluid over the charcoal. Use approximately four ounces of the fluid over the area of the coals.
-
-
3
Lighter fluid makes charcoal flammable. Strike a match and touch it to several places in the pile of fluid-covered coals. Be careful to not burn yourself as lighter fluid is very combustible.
-
4
Allow the charcoal to burn with the grill covered for about 15 to 20 minutes.
-
5
Turn the burning coals with a poker before preparing your favorite grilled recipes.
