How to Glue Foam Core
Foam core is a foam board that is mounted on both sides with paper, usually glossy or semi-glossy. Foam core is ideal for crafting, children's science projects and sign displays. Oftentimes, items such as photographs, diagrams and three-dimensional objects must be glued to a foam core board for a project. In this instance, it is important to avoid water-based liquid glues, as this may cause the mounted paper on the board to bubble. Glue items onto foam core or pieces of foam core together without destroying the outer paper layer.

1
Spread out a few sheets of newspaper onto a flat surface. Set the foam core on or near the newspaper for easy access when gluing.
-
2
Place a flat item, such as paper or pieces of foam core, to be glued face down onto the newspaper. If you are using spray adhesive, position the nozzle about 6 inches from the top of the object, then spray with long, horizontal strokes until the entire back is covered. If you are using a nontoxic glue stick, press a line of glue all around the edges of the item, then fill in the inside of the line.

Turn the flat object over, then hold it above the foam core in the area it will be glued to. Lower the item to the foam core surface and apply pressure to the top with your fingers to adhere it in place. Let dry.

Squeeze a dollop or a line of white wood glue onto the back of a three-dimensional object. Press the object onto the surface of the foam core, holding it in place until it is steady. Let dry.
