Instructions

    • 1

Purchase beaded garland that has a little bit of space between the beads, approximately 1/4 inch or more. This will give you room to add crochet stitches between the beads.

    • 2

Attach the crochet thread with a slip stitch between the first two beads on one end of your beaded garland. Make two or three crochet stitches, or however many it takes for you to carry the thread behind the bead to the left of your slipknot. Single crochet in the space between the second and third beads. Repeat this across the row, making chain stitches behind each bead and single crochets between them.

    • 3

When you reach the end of the beaded garland, make twice as many chain stitches behind the last bead and turn so that you can work back down the opposite side of the garland. Single crochet between the two closest beads, slightly to the left of the single crochet you made on the first side. Continue to make chain stitches behind the beads and single crochets between them, and join with a slip stitch when you reach the end.

    • 4

Chain one and work three double crochet stitches, two chain stitches and three more double crochet stitches in the chain space behind the first bead. Repeat this in every chain-loop behind every bead; chain two at the end of the row and work the same stitches down the opposite side. Chain two at the end and join with the initial double crochet stitch.

    • 5

Cut your working thread, leaving a 4-inch tail. Make one final slipknot to secure it and use an embroidery needle to weave in this loose end and any others that might exist.

Tips & Warnings

  • For a traditional look, use white crochet cotton with gold or silver beads. For a more contemporary look match the color of your thread to the color scheme of your Christmas ornaments.
