Filemaker Pro 5.5 Tutorial
Filemaker Pro 5.5, which was released in 2001, was the first version of the program to run on Mac computers in addition to PCs. With Filemaker Pro 5.5, users can create dynamic databases and then share them with other users. Filemaker database files can contain a variety of data types, including text, numbers and dates. In addition, you can use Filemaker Pro 5.5 to search and sort existing records.

Open the Filemaker Pro 5.5 program on your PC or Mac computer.

Go to the "File" menu at the top of the screen and choose the "New" option if you want to create a blank database or the "Open" option if you want to access an existing one.

Open the "File" menu again, go into the "Define" submenu and select "Fields." The field management pop-up window will now appear.

Enter a name for a new field, choose one of the field type radio buttons and then press the "Create" button to add it to the database's structure. Repeat this process for all the fields you want to add to your database. Press "Done" when you are finished creating fields.

Go to "Records" in the top menu bar and choose "New Record" to add a new entry to your file. You can use the "Delete Record" option to remove an existing entry.

Perform a search in the database by going to the "View" menu and selecting "Find Mode." Enter the criteria you want to search by and press the "Find" button to view a list of search results.

Manage the security of your Filemaker Pro 5.5 database by going to the "File" menu and choosing "Passwords" from the "Access Privileges" section. Here you can set a password for your file, which other users will be required to enter when they try to open the database.
