How to Organize My Ebooks
Downloading electronic copies of your favorite books might be convenient. However, your computer might suffer from severe disorganization if you download lots of books without a formal filing system. Finding your ebooks might be a chore, and ultimately leave you stressed and wasting time. Filing your ebooks in categories can prevent the hassle of disorganization. You can turn your ebook clutter into a digital bookshelf with the creation of a few folders, leaving your ebooks neatly organized and easy to find.

Create a new folder on your desktop called "ebooks." Right click on the desktop and roll your cursor over "New." Select "Folder" from the dropout menu. Type "ebooks" and press the "Enter" button. Open your "ebooks" folder by double clicking on it.

Create a new folder in "ebooks" called "Reading List." This folder is for the ebooks you are currently reading or plan to read in the near future. Right click anywhere in your "ebooks" folder and roll your cursor over "New." Select "Folder" from the dropdown menu. Type "Reading List" and press the "Enter" button.

Create a new folder in "ebooks" that reflects one of the genre's of ebooks you download. For example, if you read a lot of romance ebooks, create a folder titled "Romance." Right click anywhere in your "ebooks" folder and roll your cursor over "New." Select "Folder" from the dropout menu. Type "Romance" and press the "Enter" button. You will store all of your romance ebooks in this folder.

Create an individual genre folder for the entire remaining genre's of ebooks you have. Classifying by genre will allow you to search for books by topic.

Create sub-genre folders within the genre folders if you have lots of books in a particular genre. For example, if you download lots of romance ebooks, create sub-genre folders such as "Historical Romance," "Inspirational Romance," and "Erotica." If your ebooks don't fit into a particular sub-genre, create folders by the authors last name, or by the publisher.

Cut and paste your ebooks into the appropriate folder. Find your ebook and right click on it. Select "Cut" from the dropout menu. Open your ebooks folder and select the appropriate genre and sub-genre folder. Right click in the appropriate folder and select "Paste" from the dropout menu. If you are in the process of reading the ebook, or plan on reading the ebook soon, place the ebook in the "Reading List" folder.
