How to Set Up Hotmail

Creating a new email address account with Hotmail is easy.

Registering for an MSN (Microsoft Network) Hotmail account can be done in a matter of minutes. Once you've finished the process, you'll be provided with an email address as well as an instant messaging username. With your Hotmail account, you can block spam, bring various email addresses together and check mail from your smartphone. All of these services are offered by MSN for free.

Instructions

1. Go to Hotmail.com. A window that says "WindowsLive" will appear.

2. Look for the text that reads, "Don't have a Hotmail Account?" and click on the "Sign Up" box located directly beside it.

3. Enter all of the information it requests, including your Windows Live ID (username), password, alternate email address and personal information. You'll be required to enter a verification code, as well.

4. Click "I Accept" at the bottom of the screen after you've read the Microsoft service agreement and privacy statement.

5. Wait for a new window to load. This new window is your new email account.

6. Set up your email account by clicking on "Options" and then "More Options." From here you'll be able to change your password, edit personal information, customize the appearance of your email and add contacts.
