How to Delete an AIM Screen Name

AIM is an instant-messaging program created by AOL.

America Online Instant Messenger (AIM) is a program that allows users to talk to each other over the Internet in real time. As of 2010, AOL does not allow you to delete your username. However, it is possible to prevent other AIM users from locating your screen name. This technically removes your screen name from other users' radar and makes it seem as though your AIM username is no longer in existence.

Instructions

Windows

1. Go to the "My AIM" menu.

2. Click on the "My Options" menu and select "Edit Preferences." A new window will appear.

3. Click on the "Controls" tab and select "Nothing about me."

4. Exit the AIM program.

Mac

1. Go to the "Edit" menu on your AIM window.

2. Select "Preferences" and wait for a new window to pop up.

3. Click on the "Controls" tab and select "Nothing about me."

4. Exit AIM.
