How to Upgrade Internet Browsers to Faster Service on Windows 2000

Internet Explorer 5 was the default browser for Microsoft Windows 2000. It provided several new features, like new search and sort options in the Search and History bar, an auto-complete feature, repair tool and much more. However, compared with the latest versions, it was not fast. Luckily, users can upgrade the Internet Explorer browser in Windows 2000, to make it faster.

Instructions

      Visit Microsoft Download Center (see References) using the default IE5 browser.

      Locate the "Download" button beneath the heading "Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1."

      Hit "Run" to start the installation. Wait a few minutes as Windows 2000 finishes upgrading your IE5 browser to IE6.

      Restart your computer.

    Mozilla Firefox Users

      Visit Mozilla Firefox website (see References) if you prefer Mozilla over Internet Explorer.

      Click on "Download Now" and select "Run."

      Hit "Run" when Windows 2000 finishes the download. This will open the setup wizard for Firefox. Hit "Next" and follow the on-screen guided prompts to finish installation.
