After a while, tiles in a bathroom will eventually need to be recaulked. To properly recaulk these tiles, the old caulk will need to be removed and replaced with fresh, silicone-based caulk. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Utility knife
  • Silicone caulk
  • Rag

Instructions

    • 1

      Scrape out and remove all the old caulk with the utility knife. Clean the cracks with soap and water so no dirt gets trapped under the new caulk. Allow the tiles to dry.

      Apply the caulk to the cracks of the tile, holding the caulk tube at an angle as you squeeze the caulk out. Squeeze out single bead strands of caulk no bigger than a pencil and make sure the caulk completely fills each crack. Never double back on a bead.

      Smooth the beads of caulk out with your finger so that they fit in the cracks properly, and wipe off any extra caulk with a damp rag. Give the caulk time to harden.
