Chewing Gum Removal From a Car
Chewing gum found on the interior or exterior of your car can surely ruin your day. Chewing gum can become a challenge to remove because of its sticky texture. You can remove chewing gum from your car with common items found around your household instead of taking it to a professional. When you remove the chewing gum from the car, you need to take your time to ensure that you do not damage the paint or fabric.
Things You'll Need
- Plastic bag
- Ice
- Plastic paint scraper
- Vacuum
- ¼ tsp. dish washing soap
- 1 cup warm water
- Washcloths
- Wet/dry vacuum
- Bug and tar remover
- Car wax

Remove Gum From Car Interior

Fill a plastic bag with ice. Apply the ice to the gum until it becomes hard.

Scrape the gum off with a plastic paint scraper.

Vacuum the area to remove loose pieces of gum.

Combine ¼ tsp. of dish washing soap with 1 cup of warm water. Dip a washcloth in the mixture and then blot the area with the wet washcloth.

Rinse the area with clean water. Use a damp washcloth to rinse the dish washing soap from the car's interior. Use a wet/dry vacuum to remove any excess water.

Park the car in a shaded area. Wipe the area around the chewing gum with a soft cloth to remove any dirt and debris that can scratch the paint.

Fill a plastic bag with ice. Place the plastic bag over the chewing gum. Allow the gum to freeze and become hard.

Use a plastic paint scraper to remove the chewing gum. Slowly place the paint scraper under the chewing gum and lift it off carefully.

Apply bug and tar remover to the area with a washcloth. Follow the directions on the product to remove excess gum residue.

Rinse the area with warm and soapy water.

Wax the car to protect the paint.
