How to Cut Glass Tile With a Wet Saw
Glass tiles are being used in more tile designs than ever before. Glass tile is available in wide range of sizes and styles, from color backed, clear material to recycled glass tiles that have color all the way through.
Glass is a much more fragile material than ceramic or stone, and may be crushed or chipped easily when being cut. To avoid these problems, make sure you use the proper blade in a tile wet saw every time.

1
Loosen the bolt on the tile wet saw holding the blade in place with a wrench. Remove the old blade and replace it with a diamond encrusted, glass cutting blade. Tighten the bolt back down and fill the tray below the blade with water.
-
2
Place the glass tile on the tray, lining up the area you wish to cut with the blade. If the glass tile has a white back, put this side up when you cut. This will minimize chipping of the glass face.

Turn on the blade, and place your fingers on the glass tile on either side, away from the blade. Press on the glass tile with light, steady pressure and push it forward into the blade. Do not force the glass into the blade; allow the blade to pull the tile forward as it cuts. Push the tile all the way through steadily for a clean cut.

Tips & Warnings
If the color backing on your glass tile becomes chipped on the wet saw, use acrylic paint to touch it up before you install.
