How to Apply Wood Dye
Wood dyes are available in a variety of shades. They are capable of penetrating into the grain of the wood, allowing you to see the wood's patterns more clearly than other types of finishes. These stains are dissolved into a solvent. Wood dye is available in a liquid form or as a powder. Check the label on the product before using it to ensure that it has already been dissolved in solvent. If it has not been dissolved, follow the label's directions for proper preparation.

Protect your work area from accidental spills by spreading newspaper under the object you are going to dye. Wear gloves and a dust mask to protect your hands and respiratory system.

Dampen a clean cloth with dye and apply the dye evenly to the wood. Work as quickly as possible, as the dye will dry rapidly.

Wipe the dyed surface of the wood with another clean cloth before it dries. This ensures an evenly-dyed surface.
