How to Opt Out of Google Street View

Google Street View, added as an additional feature to Google Maps, allows you to view areas from street level. Google used cars specially equipped with 3D cameras on board to take photographs around the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, New Zealand France and other countries. You can view streets in interactive panoramic views, which is useful for checking out local areas where you might be visiting or moving to. Google developed special technology that blurs license plates and faces, although there have been instances of errors. You cannot opt-out of future Google Street View photographs, but if you see yourself, you can request to be removed.

Instructions

Find yourself or the problem on Google Street View.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can find out where Google cars are currently driving by going to the "Where is Street View Available?" (there is a link in the Resources section of this article) page and scrolling down to "Where are our vehicles currently driving?" Select your country and then check the area and city to avoid being filmed in the future.
