How to Get a Teaching Job in England
Bagging a teacher's job in the UK requires a training program and work experience. If you are already a teacher working outside the UK in the European Union, you can apply for teaching jobs in the same way as a British national. Qualified teachers from outside the EU can work as "unqualified teachers" for up to four years whilst they earn the necessary teacher training qualifications, according to the Training and Development Agency (TDA).

To cut your teeth as a teacher, the first step is to complete an initial teacher training (ITT) program which includes theoretical learning and 18 weeks of practical work experience.
-
2
You can chose from a variety of ITT courses including an undergraduate bachelor of education or a bachelor of arts or science with qualifies teacher status (QTS). If you already have a degree you can study for a postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE) or school-centered initial teacher training (SCITT). All of these routes will lead you to qualified teacher status.

Alternatively, you can choose to work as you study through the graduate teacher program (GTP) or registered teacher program (RTP). This involves working in a school as part of your teacher training education.

Qualified teachers from outside of the EU can work in England as a temporary or unqualified teacher for up to four years through the Overseas Trained Teacher Program (OTTP). This will provide you with additional training and assessment which will enable you to become a permanent qualified teacher in England. Training takes up to a year for the full-time program.

According to the Training and Development Agency, if you are not a EU citizen but feel that your skills meet all the necessary QTS requirements, you can apply for "assessment based training." This involves submitting a portfolio of evidence of your teaching abilities, achievements, and undergoing a one-day assessment visit to your school.

For permanent work in the UK, you are required to have a valid UK visa, work permit or passport allowing you to live and work in Britain, according to Work Gateways. You can also apply for a working holiday visa which will allow you to work as a temporary supply teacher or undertake a fixed contract teaching position.
