How to Convert Time
Time is something that can be easily converted from one format to another as long as you know the correct formulas. Converting seconds into minutes, for example, is easy to do but converting seconds into decades or centuries is much more difficult. You can convert time by using Internet conversion programs to learn the basic formulas. You can even use these sites to convert time between zones (e.g. London and New York) or between 24-hour and 12-hour clock formats.

1
Visit the Calculate Me website, found in the "Resources" section. This site allows you to select two specific time variables (i.e. seconds and hours) and see how they relate to each other. For example, if you select minutes and days as your variables, the website tells you that there are 1440 minutes in 1 day, and 0.0006944444444444445 days in 1 minute.

2
Input specific time values into the appropriate boxes on the Calculate Me website if there is a certain question you need to answer. For example, if you need to know how many hours there are in 13 days, select "Days" and "Hours" as your variables and insert "13" into the conversion box. Press the "Convert" button to find your answer.

Visit the Time And Date website as cited in the "Resources" section. This site lets you convert time between two cities of your choice and even takes daylight savings time (DST) into account. Insert the date, time and the two cities into the dropdown menus provided. Click "Convert Time" to get your answer.

Go to the Maths Is Fun link in the "Resources" section. This particular Internet website teaches you how to read a 24 hour clock and how to convert it from 12-hour time. The basic rule is that to find any hour after 12:00 midday (e.g. 17:00), you just have to subtract 12 hours from it (i.e. 17:00 -- 12:00 = 5 o'clock). See the site for a comparison chart.

5
Write a formula sheet for the following: converting time measurements, converting time zones and converting hour formats. You can use this sheet to jog your memory and keep all the time conversion information in one place. You can also take it anywhere and don't need the Internet.
For example, you can add the formulas for converting seconds, minutes, hours and days as well as the time differences for some of the world's major cities.

Tips & Warnings
If you know the formula for converting two measurements of time but the numbers are too large or difficult to work out mentally, use a calculator to get your answer.
