How to Build a Mold
Making soaps from scratch allows you to create soaps that will be composed of only natural ingredients, such as olive oil, coconut oil and essential oils. To make soaps that are formed into square, rectangular or circular shapes, it is important to know how to make a soap mold. When using a soap mold, all of your soaps will be uniform and evenly distributed.

1
Place a piece of heavy-weight cardboard onto a flat surface.
-
2
Measure and mark the cardboard in order to cut out the shapes of the mold. You will need five pieces; three pieces measuring 3 inches wide by 18 inches long, and two pieces measuring 3 1/2 inches wide by 3 inches long.
-
-
3
Cut out the shapes with scissors.
-
4
Arrange the cardboard shapes onto a flat surface. Place one of the long pieces vertically in front of you. Place the other two long pieces vertically on either side of the first one. Place one of the smaller pieces underneath the three long pieces, and the other small piece above the long pieces.
-
5
Place two long pieces that are on the left and right on top of the long piece in the middle. Tape the shapes together with duct tape.
-
6
Place the smaller pieces on either end of the mold, and tape them on with duct tape.
-
7
Wrap duct tape around the inside and outside of the entire mold, making sure to smooth out any lumps or creases. This will ensure that the soap mixture will not leak out of the mold.
