How To Register my Site With Google

Google's Internet search engine crawls the entire Internet, adding new websites it finds to its index. Every time a user searches Google, Google uses its search index to return near-instantaneous results. While the Google indexer's next web crawl will automatically find your site and register it with Google if there are links to it on other pages, there is another method for adding your site to Google. Register your site with Google manually using Google's "Add your URL to Google" web page.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Google's "Add your URL to Google" web page (see Resources).

    • 2

Type your site's top-level URL into the "URL" box on the web page, then hit "Tab." For example, if your website's URL is "http://www.mywebsite.com/myhomepage.htm," only type "http://www.mywebsite.com/."

    • 3

Enter keywords or comments describing your website into the "Comments" box if desired, then hit "Tab." This field is optional and does not affect the indexing or ranking of your website on Google.

    • 4

Confirm you are a human by typing the squiggly letters displayed on the page into the box below them.

    • 5

Submit your URL to Google by clicking "Add URL."

Tips & Warnings

  • Google automatically crawls the Internet and adds new websites; registering your site with Google may speed up the process, but is not required.

  • Google occasionally looks at your website again and updates its index with the changes; don't worry about updating Google when your website changes.
