How to Clean Kitchen Sink Stains
A dirty or dingy sink can ruin the look of your kitchen. Rust, mineral deposits soap scum and food can build-up in your sink creating difficult to remove stains. Even stainless steel kitchen sinks can become dingy with stains. Replacing a kitchen sink can be a costly and time consuming project. Things You'll Need
- Water
- Baking soda
- Cloths
- Sponges
- Distilled white vinegar
- Pumice stone
- Lemon juice
- Borax
- Bleach
- Ammonia
- Bucket
- TSP
Instructions

Baking Soda

Rinse your sink with cool water.

Sprinkle baking soda throughout the inside of the sink.

Rub the sink with a soft cloth.

Rinse the baking soda from the sink with cool water.
Vinegar

Apply distilled white vinegar to a cloth

Scrub the sink with the saturated cloth until the stains are removed.

Rinse with cool water.
Pumice Stone

Soften the pumice stone by saturated it with cool water.

Scrub the inside of the sink with the pumice stone. The pumice stone will leave behind a residue of mud that washes off with water.

Rinse the sink with a soft cloth saturated in warm water.
Borax and Lemon Juice

Combine 1 cup of borax with ¼ cup of lemon juice to form a paste.

Scoop some of the paste with a sponge.

Scrub the inside of the sink with the paste until the stains are gone.

Rinse the sink with cool water.
Bleach

Combine equal parts bleach and warm water.

Submerge a sponge in the mixture and wring out the excess liquid.

Scrub the sink with the sponge to remove dirt, grime and stuck on food.

Rinse the sink thoroughly with water.
Ammonia

Combine equal parts ammonia and warm water.

Dip a cloth in the solution and scrub the sink to remove stains and marks.

Rinse the sink and flush the pipes with cool water.
TSP

Add 1 gallon of water to a bucket. Add 4 tbsp. of trisodium phosphate---TSP---to the water.

Submerge a cloth in the mixture. Wring out the excess liquid.

Scrub the inside of the sink with the cloth. Rinse the sink with cool water.

Tips & Warnings
For hard to reach areas and around faucets, use an old toothbrush.
Pumice stones are available in the beauty section at your local department store.
Never mix bleach with ammonia or products containing ammonia.
Wear rubber gloves to prevent skin irritation.
