Philippine passport renewal can be easy

When you're working and living abroad, it can be frustrating to take care of personal business with your home country. Luckily, for Philippine citizens living in the United Kingdom, the Philippine government makes the process of getting of renewing a passport fairly straightforward.

The Philippine Embassy in London supports its people to get the passports they need. However, you can make it easier by coming prepared with the right documents in order to expedite the process.

Instructions

      Get three color passport photos with a royal blue background. Applicants should be nicely dressed with collared shirts. Photos can be no older than six months and sized 4.5cm by 3.5cm.

      Gather your required documents. These are typically the applicant's old passport and a photocopy of the data page of the old passport. Holders of an older brown cover passport will also need as many supporting documents as he or she has available. These documents include marriage contract, baptismal certificate, PRC/IBP ID, seaman's book, land title, driver's license, government service record, old SSS-E1 form transcript of records and voter's registration record.

      Complete a passport renewal application. Forms are available online at (see Resources) or in person at the embassy.

      Visit the Philippine Embassy in London Consular Section between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm or between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday except holidays. The embassy is located at 6 Suffolk Street, London, SW1Y 4HG.

      Submit your application and documents along with 36 pounds. Passport processing time is four to six weeks. Passports may be claimed in person or via self-addressed, prepaid special delivery envelopes.

Tips & Warnings

  • For children born outside the Philippines, there are additional requirements. These include the original and three photocopies of the child's birth certificate bearing both parents' names, three completed Report of Birth Forms and three photocopies of the data page of the parent's valid Philippine Passport.

  • The embassy will cancel passports unclaimed after six months. Additionally, the embassy is allowed to reject applications not supported by sufficient documentation.
