Instructions

    • 1

Clean your sofa. For most leathers you can use a soft, damp cloth to remove any dirt or debris. You also might want to apply a professional leather lotion to prevent any drying or cracking. If your furniture material is a heavy-duty microfiber or polyester, use warm water to spot clean food or dirt. For any other materials, check with a professional to see what they recommend for cleaning. Cotton materials can be hard to maintain and may require special instructions.

    • 2

Vacuum under the seat cushions, if removable, by using a small, hand-held vacuum. You also can use a brush or crevice tools of a larger vacuum. Don't forget the surrounding nooks that cover the frame.

    • 3

Turn your sofa over and check to see if the legs are removable. You should be able to twist them off if they are. This is common and manufacturers prefer to ship furniture this way to prevent damage. If you are able to remove them, wrap in bubble wrap.

    • 4

Place bubble wrap around your sofa if it is leather. Secure with packing tape.

    • 5

Insert your sofa into the plastic furniture bag. Seal tightly with packing tape, making sure there are no open holes. Use generous amounts of tape until you are satisfied the sofa is secure.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use bubble wrap prior to bagging your sofa if it is leather to prevent scratches.

  • Check with a local furniture company for sofa or mattress bags.

  • Make sure the sofa is completely sealed to avoid insect or rodent entry as well as moisture.
