How to Remove a Panasonic Genius Microwave From a Wall Bracket

James Clark

The Panasonic Genius line of microwave ovens is designed for installation over a stove or range to conserve counter space. The microwave is bolted to the underside of the kitchen cabinet with support from two brackets mounted on the wall behind the oven. Removing the microwave takes less than an hour with the help of a friend to hold the appliance while you unscrew the hardware with common household tools.

Step 1

Open the kitchen cabinets above the Panasonic Genius to locate the bolts holding the unit to the inside bottom of the cabinet.

Step 2

Unplug the microwave oven's power cord from the electrical outlet inside the cabinet or on the wall below the appliance.

Step 3

Loosen the two screw bolts inside the bottom of the cabinet where the microwave attaches to the wood. Have a friend support the bottom of the oven while you remove the bolts.

Step 4

Lower the front of the microwave at an angle of approximately 45 degrees while a friend continues supporting the bottom.

Step 5

Push upward on the back of the Panasonic at the base to disengage the microwave from the two metal brackets that support it on the back wall.

Step 6

Lower the appliance to the kitchen counter. Guide the power cord out of the hole in the underside of the kitchen cabinet where it had been connected to the electrical outlet.
